About Us
The Region of Peel Agricultural Society's mission is to bridge the gap between urban and rural lifestyles by providing educational and entertaining opportunities that inspire a deeper understanding and appreciation of agriculture.

Our History
First known as the County of Peel Agricultural Society, our non-profit organization was established under the Agricultural and Horticultural Organizations Act in 1853. Since its inception our agricultural society has reflected the ever changing and diverse population of Peel Region.

1853 was also the year of the very first Brampton Fair. Held on the southwest corner of Queen and Main Streets in downtown Brampton (near present day Brampton City Hall) this Fair included horse tie-ups for travelling exhibitors and attendees.
In 1871, as Brampton grew and developed, the fairgrounds moved across the road to 9 acres of land where the Peel Art Gallery, Museum, and Archives (PAMA) now sits.
In 1884 the fairgrounds relocated once again to 13 acres of land on Elliot Street, now known as Fairground Park, where the annual fair was held for the next 113 years. This property included a grandstand for entertainment, a track, Memorial Arena, Curling Club, Jr. Farmer Building, and a Women's Homecraft Building. The original entrance gate posts remain at Fairground Park at the corner of Elliot St. and Craig St.

Brampton continued to grow and develop and finally in 1997 just prior to the 144th annual fair, the fairgrounds moved to its current location at Heart Lake Rd. and Old School Rd. in Caledon where it has held the annual fall fair and countless other community events since.
