Our Heritage Timeline
Discover the key milestones that shaped our Agricultural Society into the community cornerstone it is today.
1853
Foundation Year
Established under the Agricultural and Horticultural Organizations Act and first know as the County of Peel Agricultural Society, our non-profit was formed to promote agriculture, education, and rural life across the region. The same year, the society hosted the first Brampton Fair, laying the groundwork for tradition that continues to bring people together to this day.

1871
Infastructure Growth
As both the Society and Brampton grew, so did the need for expanded space to support agricultural exhibitions and events. The Fairgrounds relocated to a larger nine-acre property, now home to the Peel Art Gallery, Museum, and Archives (PAMA). This move marked an important step in the Society's evolution, allowing for larger fairs, increased participation, and expanded programming that better served the community.

1884
Community Expansion
The Fairgrounds relocated once again and established a new long-term home on Elliot Street, now known as Fairground Park, where it would remain for the next 113 years. This property included a grandstand, track, arena, Jr. Farmers building, and a Women's Homecraft building. These spaces reflected the Society's growing role in not just agriculture, but in youth engagement, recreation, and community celebration. The original entrance gates still stand today as a tribute to this historic period.

Today
Modern Innovation
In 1997 the Society relocated to its current grounds at Heart Lake and Old School Roads in Caledon to accommodate the continued regional growth. Today, the Region of Peel Agricultural Society remains committed to preserving rural traditions while embracing modern innovation. From hosting the Annual Fall Fair to delivering agricultural education, youth programming, and year-round community events, the Society continues to evolve, serving as a bridge between Peel's agricultural roots and its diverse, growing future.
